I spent 40 years finding out why organizations underperform. Then I went back to school to prove it.

40 years in hospitals, plants, and clinics produced a pattern I could not get the standard methods to state. Every organization I worked in was undone by one thing, not by its average of many things. The methods I was trained in average. They are built to tell you how you are doing on the whole, which is the one question that does not predict the outcome.

I started a PhD at 67 to formalize it. The theory is Petersen’s Theory of Innovation Alignment. The five platforms are what it looks like when you stop arguing about the idea and build it.
